True Grit

Nick and I both read True Grit by Charles Portis last week in preparation for the Coen Brothers’ remake, coming out next month. Although the novel is only about 200 pages, it tells an amazing and unique story of a very bad-ass 14 year-old girl who sets out to avenge her father’s murder by hiring the toughest marshal in the county, someone with “true grit”. Rooster Cogburn is that marshal,  portrayed what seems like perfectly, by Jeff Bridges.

Before we see the new movie in theatres, we also plan to watch the 1969 version, starring John Wayne.

Are there any holiday movies coming out that you’re excited about?
