How To Have A Healthy Weekend

March 12, 2012 § 3 Comments

This weekend may have started off with a trip to Atlantic City, but the rest of it was healthier than most!

My friend Kate and I had been talking about trying Soul Cycle – the mecca of upscale spinning classes –  for a while, since we are both lovers of fitness and Kelly Ripa. On Saturday, we finally made it happen.

I can tell you, that class is no joke! The instructor was great – entertaining and energetic – and the music selection wasn’t bad either. I was happy to get a bike between the wall and my friend Annie and the dim lights helped me to let loose, and not worry about what I looked like as I struggled to catch my breath and sweated buckets.

The hour actually went by fairly quickly, but by the end, all four of us had faces so bright red we looked sunburnt.

The $32 a class cost and the dehydration/exhaustion headache I got afterwards may keep me away for a little while, but seeing Jake Gyllenhaal walk out of the class before me may make me want to hit that 3pm Saturday class again soon.

Sunday morning, I was back in my element with Ashtanga. Living Social featured a great deal on my favourite yoga studio last week so four friends signed up, and three of them accompanied Nick and I to class on Sunday!

As usual, it was fantastic and so great to have some friends to introduce to the class. Afterwards we all had a tasty brunch at Juliette. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do on a Sunday morning than yoga and brunch!

How was your weekend?
